Slazenger Junior North East Cheshire Lawn Tennis League

The sun shone on Sale last Sunday as 38 players arrived to contest the latest round of the 2008 Grand Prix - our first visit since the completion of the excellent court renewal programme!

A combined Girls U15 and U12 event saw the Bramhall Lane pairing of Erica Sanders and Gabby McKeever take top spot with Laura Beardwood and Sophie Wright (Hale) in second place and Northern's Eilidh Gawley and Rona Mackenzie in third.

Hale's Callum Beardwood and Jack Cave topped the Boys U12 group with Northern's Harry Rodger and Elliot Miller second and Charlie Parker and Tommy McIldeen (Knutsford) in third place.

Seven pairs contested the Boys U15s and, after two round robin groups and two knockoout rounds, finallists emerged - Michael Phillips and Matthew Riley (Knutsford) and the Didsbury pairing of Martin and Robert Benson-May who managed to reverse an earlier group defeat and eased to a 6/2 win in the final.

The U18 event started with two round robin groups of three pairs and after two knockout rounds the group winners ended up in the final with Elliot Heward and Will Lloyd (Lymm) emerging the victors in a tight match with Lucas Taylor and Marcus McNulty (Lindow/Mellor).
