Whilst serving was a bit of a struggle, all the players competed well in the conditions and dished up some excellent tennis for the spectators. In the U12 age group, the Boys title went to Prashant Duggal and James Donnelly (Northern) who headed the group with Sam Hanson and Angus Roberts (Bramhall Lane) in runners up spot. The Girls event was won by Northern pair Eilidh Gawley and Naomi McIntosh edging out the Bramhall Lane pairing of Francesca Bailey and Georgina Dare. In the U15s, the Boys event ended with a final between the two group winners - Marcus McNulty & Lucas Taylor (Mellor/Lindow) and the local team of Michael Philips & Matthew Riley with Marcus and Lucas running out winners. Charlotte Bailey and Rachel Egan (Bramhall Lane/Bramhall Queensgate) headed the Girls group from Rachel Gough and Maudie Melton (Hale/Bowdon). In the U18 events for the Knutsford Guardian Trophies, Sally Lynn & Charlotte Sykes retained the girls' title for the third year, winning their group stage, whilst in the boys' section, a tight final saw Elliot Heward and Graham Kimber (Lymm) take the title from defending champions, Sam Waterhouse and John Abbott (Greave).
Thanks as usual to the refereeing team, ably led by Senior Referee (and League Vice-President!) Sally Archer. Thanks also to Paul Burns, Guy Hill and the rest of the team at Knutsford for their hospitality and to the Knutsford Guardian for their continued sponsorship of this event. Lastly, thanks to all the players who produced some excellent tennis on a difficult day!
We hope to see you all at the next One Day event in the 2008 Grand Prix Magnificent 7 Series at Sale LTC on Sunday 13 July - sign in at 9.30am.
